Your New Role

We are seeking a Vice President of Off-Platform Strategy to lead the vision, execution, and growth of our off-platform audience strategy. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving audience development, engagement, and monetization across both referral-driven and reach-centered platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, etc.).

This role will oversee a comprehensive team focused on growing our off-platform audiences and referrals to CNN, channel-specific content development management, and platform-specific revenue generation. It requires a leader who can balance editorial and business goals, and who understands how to shape platform-specific strategies that build habit, grow loyal audiences, and drive sponsorship or other revenue opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be audience-obsessed, revenue-conscious, and fluent in platform behavior, content formats, and performance data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Off-Platform Strategy & Leadership : Define and lead a comprehensive, platform- and channel-specific strategy across all of CNNs social and third-party content distribution channels.
  • Oversee growth goals for reach, engagement, and referral, ensuring audience development strategies and off-platform production strategies are tailored by platform and audience behavior.
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Marketing, Growth, and Product leaders to align off-platform efforts with consumer lifecycle and brand objectives.

Team Oversight

  • Off Platform Reach : Lead and build a high-performing team focused on platform-native content on video or visual-first platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) with a focus on engagement, repeatable formats, and habit-building content strategies.
  • Referring audiences from social to site: Manage and execute social distribution strategies that drive traffic and conversion back to O&O properties.
  • Supporting Monetization Opportunities: Help inform, identify, manage, and fulfill sponsorship opportunities for off-platform content, and collaborate with Ad Sales on built-if-sold activations.

Monetization & Sponsorship Enablement

  • Partner with Revenue, Brand, and Ad Sales teams to identify and develop sponsorable content opportunities across off-platform environments.
  • Oversee the ideation, planning, and packaging of built-if-sold content, ensuring alignment with editorial values and platform behavior.
  • Ensure monetization strategies across platforms are optimized and measurable.

Performance & Optimization

  • Guide platform-specific growth and optimization strategies based on deep audience insight and performance metrics that drive and support overall Audience goals.
  • Ensure channel managers are equipped to develop and execute data-driven strategies that are audience- and algorithm-informed.
  • Promote testing, learning, and iteration to ensure we are evolving with platform algorithms, audience expectations, and monetization opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 8-10+ years of experience in social media strategy, audience development, digital content, or platform partnershipspreferably within a media, news, or digital-first organization.
  • Proven success in leading multi-platform growth strategies and building or managing cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of platform-specific algorithms, audience behavior, and monetization dynamics across walled-garden and referral ecosystems.
  • Experience collaborating with editorial and business teams to develop sponsor-ready content.
  • Strong data literacy and ability to translate performance insights into actionable strategy.
  • Editorial judgment with a strong sense of brand integrity and platform nuance.
  • Experience managing in complex and cross-functional organizations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

The pay range for this role is $184,800.00 - $343,200.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time, and vacation.
