QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must hold OR be able to OBTAIN a current Kansas Certified Teacher License, OR Standard Substitute License OR Emergency Substitute Teacher License from KSDE.

•Applicants must meet the Kansas State Department of Education certification requirements.
•Knowledge and skills in proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation, and basic math; methodologies, techniques and practices used to address the educational and emotional needs of regular program and special education students.
•Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Ability to implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher while ensuring the integrity of academic time in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
•Ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students; ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgment.
•Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and district policies. Ability to apply appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behaviors; ability to display problem solving cooperative negotiating skills and conflict resolution strategies.
•Maintain and respect confidentiality of student, school personnel, and parent information.
•Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
•Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
•Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/district policies and/or practices.

 

We will continue to have Assigned Subs for the 2025-2026 school year. The Assigned Subs will report to a home building but be required to go to a TPS Strand (feeder school) when they are not needed in a classroom in the home building. Assigned subs are for CERTIFIED classroom teacher positions ONLY.

 

These substitutes will have the following expectations as an Assigned Sub.

 

1. You are assigned to a “home” building.

2. If all certified absences in home building are filled, Substitutes please call the sub office for an assignment within your strand.

3. The sub office will find the placement and notify the school.

4. The sub works when school is in session and paid for the on site school days worked with scholars in a CERTIFIED position.

5. You MUST be willing to travel to other locations.

6. You MUST sign in at the location you work each day in order to be PAID.
