Direct message the job poster from Bad Birdie Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, People Operations & Strategy About the job Golf was never meant to be proper—it was meant to be played. At Bad Birdie, we're building more than apparel. We're shaping a movement that's loud on purpose, stylish by design, and always unexpected. We're looking for a Store Manager to keep our San Diego store running like a well-oiled machine without losing the energy that makes us great. This role isn't about playing it safe on the sales floor. It's about bringing steady leadership to bold retail moments—guiding customers and teams from first impression to next sale without losing the spark that made them walk through our doors. This position sits in our UTC Westfield flagship store and reports directly to the corporate Retail Project Manager. What You'll Do: Get in the mix : You'll manage day-to-day operations, coordinate your team, and make sure every customer interaction, inventory turn, and visual display moves from concept to execution with open communication, an eye for challenging the status quo, and consistent excellence delivered. Translate vision into sales : You will be the one ideating and collaborating with all Bad Birdie teams on ways to provide an experience like no other. Then, turning those dreams into reality through action items, schedules, sales targets, and check-ins that keep the store moving and teams dialed. Customer experience above all : As customers swirl through our collections and your team juggles multiple priorities, you'll keep one eye on sales goals and another on what's actually happening. You will be there to keep a pulse on both the customers and how they interact with our product / brand, and what we can do to improve. Dial in your game : You'll manage inventory, visual merchandising, shipment processing, store cleanliness, and customer relationships—without becoming a bottleneck. You'll ensure staffing makes sense and everyone knows what's due and when. Partner : You're a collaborator and a team player. You will work as the bridge between your store and corporate partners to ensure you have everything you need to be successful. This includes product, processes, systems, events, and anything else that will bring sales. What You Won't Do: This isn't a passive supervisory role. You're not hiding in the back office crunching numbers or sitting at the cash wrap collecting payments. You're not avoiding customer interaction or delegating all the hard conversations. You're not just watching from the sidelines. You are the force on the floor, ensuring the big brand moments aren’t lost on customers. You build the customer journey, align the team, keep sales targets honest, and make sure everyone—from seasoned associates to new hires, even the weekend part-timer—knows what's next. Your world is sales metrics, team huddles, customer connections, inventory flows, and retail magic. Your secret weapon? Making a customer's shopping experience feel like choreography. How You'll Stay Bad: Lead from the front Own the lifecycle of customer experiences—from the first greeting to the final bag drop Keep operations organized, on-brand, and on target Collaborate on sales goals that don't crush creativity—but don't flex into mediocrity either Work as One Connect retail with cross-functional teams—marketing, product, eComm, brand—you name it Set the tempo for sales execution and keep the drumbeat consistent Lead team meetings, training sessions, and wrap-ups with clarity Think Strategically and Creatively, Not Just Tactically Flag inventory issues before they become black holes Identify opportunities to improve how we sell, serve, and succeed Create and propose strategic, thoughtful, and actionable initiatives centered around driving traffic, engagement, connection, and conversion. Stay Sharp on Details and Deadlines Keep a pulse on team bandwidth and store needs (and call it out when we're overloaded) Partner with leadership and associates, making sure everything flows—but knowing where your job ends and theirs begins Strategically build schedules to optimize performance of the sales team and build a cohesive unit. What You Bring to the Role: Must be 18 years of age or older Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire, guide, and collaborate effectively across teams 3-5 years in retail or customer-focused roles, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional client experiences Flexibility to accommodate dynamic business needs—days, nights, weekends, and holidays Active and engaged presence on the sales floor, with the physical capability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds Fluent in tools like Shopify, Shopify POS, and Stocky Excellent communicator who can lead meetings, gracefully handle both customer and team negative situations + find a solution, and push sales forward with a mix of humor & precision Calm under pressure. Fast on your feet. (And ideally not offended by golf puns.) Experience in fashion, lifestyle, or consumer brands A love for bold brands, unexpected storytelling, and rethinking what retail is "supposed" to be Deep product knowledge and passion for golf culture Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Sales-driven performance (75%) : Achieve and exceed both personal and team sales goals by optimizing Conversion Rates (20%) and Monthly Net Sales (55%). Customer retention excellence (15%) : Build exceptional customer reviews via Google, Yelp, Apple (5%), generate a strong Repeat Purchase Rate (10%) Operational excellence (10%) : Inventory cycle counts done on time (weekly) w/ 95% accuracy or higher (5%), schedules and payroll completed on time (5%). Stay Bad. Stay Sharp. Stay Customer-Focused. We break expectations first. If you're ready to make your mark on how we execute great retail in the world of golf—we want to hear from you.
