*Special Education Teacher*

*Overview*
The Special Education Teacher supports students in PreK–8 by providing individualized services, collaborating with classroom teachers, and helping maintain a positive, developmentally responsive school culture grounded in Waldorf education. The role combines direct student support, IEP case management, and partnership with teachers and families.

*Qualifications*

* NH *Special Education Certification **OR* *NH Teacher Certification* required.
* Experience working with children; understanding of child development.
* Knowledge of:
* Waldorf pedagogy (training supported if not yet credentialed)
* Special education law & best practices
* The Science of Reading; Math Common Core
* Relationship-based and developmentally appropriate behavior support
* Ability to adapt instruction, assess student progress, and design individualized supports.
* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather on varied terrain.
* Proficient or able to learn: Google Suite, ParentSquare, Canva, ALMA, NH SAS & NWEA platforms, and NHSEIS.
* Strong communication, collaboration, decision-making, and organizational skills.

*General Teacher Responsibilities*

* Help maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment.
* Observe and assess students’ academic, social, and behavioral progress.
* Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Waldorf curriculum and student needs.
* Adapt materials and teaching methods for diverse learners.
* Prepare learning spaces and maintain accurate student records.
* Communicate regularly with parents; attend meetings and conferences.
* Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, student support, and school initiatives.
* Supervise students indoors and outdoors; support recess, arrival/dismissal, and assigned duties.
* Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and committee work.
* Maintain healthy daily/weekly rhythms for the class and follow school policies.

*Special Education–Specific Responsibilities*

* Provide required special education services for partner districts (PreK–8).
* Develop, write, and update IEPs using student data, teacher input, and Waldorf-aligned approaches.
* Coordinate and schedule IEP meetings; communicate with LEA, parents, providers, and administrators.
* Monitor fulfillment of services; adjust supports as needed.
* Conduct formal student observations, assessments, and referrals.
* Communicate with service providers (speech, OT, etc.) and ensure timely documentation in NHSEIS.
* Track accommodations and collaborate with teachers to implement them effectively.
* Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and LEA.
* Help teachers design Tier I and Tier II supports and collect student data.
* Participate in the Care Streams team and assist with behavior and intervention plans.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,826.66 - $56,992.02 per year
