The City of Peoria's Social Services Unit (SSU) is looking for passionate individuals to join our mission of promoting safer encounters between citizens in need and our dedicated police department personnel. Your role will be pivotal in connecting individuals with essential mental health, substance use, and other vital services, ultimately fostering a healthier and safer community.

About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will provide crisis intervention services, assessments, evaluations, and case management in a community-based environment. Collaborating closely with the Peoria Police Department, you will respond to the community's needs, delivering mobile mental and behavioral health services throughout Peoria, Illinois.

Your Responsibilities

• Actively listen to clients, using motivational interviewing and crisis intervention techniques to ensure safety and determine the best course of action.
• Exercise sound judgment and decision-making to resolve crises in a clinically appropriate and least restrictive manner.
• Respect and effectively engage with the diverse values and cultural beliefs of clients and their families.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency personnel during crisis situations.
• Provide follow-up case management as assigned, maintaining appropriate treatment boundaries.
• Document all interactions accurately and timely in the patient medical record.
• Prepare and maintain all pertinent records, statistics, and progress notes.
• Deliver direct counseling and case management to individuals and families.

Qualifications

License/Certifications:

• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Proof of Auto Insurance
• Driver's License - Secretary of State (SOS)

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (Required)

Experience:

• At least 3 years of related experience preferred.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work with diverse age groups and maintain confidentiality.
• Basic computer skills for documentation.
• Ability to drive in various weather conditions and perform de-escalation techniques.
• Effective communication skills with law enforcement, medical staff, and community providers.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and compliance requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $27.36 - $45.69 per hour , depending on your experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your well-being and career development.
