About the Role

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced, strategic, and technically savvy Public Relations Director to own the communications landscape for our developer ecosystem and the gamechanging Workers platform. This isnt your standard PR gig; youll be a strategic storyteller for a platform redefining scale, speed, and reliabilityfrom serverless functions to AI inference at the edge. You need technical depth to earn trust of sophisticated developers and strategic vision to position Cloudflare as the definitive platform for builders.

Youll be the critical bridge between our engineering innovation and the global technical community, shaping perception across mainstream, tech, and developer media.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Public Relations and collaborates with multiple teams including Developer Relations, Customer Advocacy, Product Marketing, Partnerships, Sales, Analyst Relations and Social Media.

Your Mission

• Own the Cloudflare Developer Story: Become the communications leader for the Workers platform, driving narratives around serverless, edge computing, fullstack development, and generative AI.
• Fuel the Fire: Partner closely with Developer Relations, Product Marketing, and engineering leaders. Translate technical deepdives into compelling press releases, bylines, and speaking submissions that resonate worldwide.
• Executive Ghostwriter: Work directly with senior executives and technical VPs to craft authentic, authoritative thought leadership that moves markets.
• Strategic Campaign Design: Drive communications for massive product launches and developer announcements, and proactively create organic moments on key trends to educate the market and spark conversation.
• Global Command: Coordinate across global PR agencies and international teams to ensure a unified, highimpact message worldwide.

What Youll Bring

• Deep Tech Credibility: Proven experience in technology and product communications, ideally combining inhouse leadership (or highgrowth startup experience) with agency expertise.
• Technical Fluency: You understand edge computing, serverless, microservices, and modern AI/ML workloads and can converse with a Principal Engineer.
• Trendspotter & Translator: Ability to identify trending developer topics and communicate Cloudflares unique angle to drive conversation and Tier1 coverage.
• Demonstrated DevRel Partnership: Experience working directly with developerfocused media and translating complex stories for mainstream business and trade audiences.
• The Go-Getter Ethos: Highly creative, proactive, and resilient. Thrive in a dynamic, highgrowth environment; manage chaos; possess a strong make it happen attitude.

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

• For Bay Areabased hires: Estimated annual salary of $185,000 $235,000

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflares equity plan.
