Job Description

A leading global energy developer is seeking an experienced in house attorney to join its growing legal function in Houston. The company has an established North American footprint and a rapidly expanding pipeline across utility scale solar and energy storage projects.

This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys working closely with commercial teams, shaping deals, and owning legal strategy across project development, construction, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise development and project teams throughout the full lifecycle of US solar and storage projects
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad mix of project related agreements including
• site control/real estate contracts, PPAs, interconnection agreements, EPC contracts, JV/MIPA documents, and project financing arrangements
• Lead negotiations with landowners, regulators, utilities, offtakers, JV partners, and lenders.
• Support business development initiatives, identifying and managing legal risks across various commercial models
• Oversee day to day legal matters such as service contracts, corporate resolutions, and official correspondence
• Conduct legal research related to US renewable energy market regulations and collaborate with external counsel where needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal experience within a law firm, in house legal department, or similar setting
• Strong background in renewable energy, particularly solar or energy storage development, construction, or operations
• Experience handling complex project development agreements (e.g., site control, interconnection, EPC, JV/M&A, PPA, project finance)
• Excellent negotiation, problem solving, and communication skills
• High integrity, ownership mindset, and ability to work across fast paced cross functional teams
