Veterans' preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40. Submit to drug testing before appointment and during employment, disclosing prior drug use or experimentation. Carry and maintain proficiency with a firearm; ineligibility applies if convicted of certain crimes of domestic violence. Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, 1-week at NCFI in Hoover, AL, and 20-21 weeks at RTC in Laurel, MD. Failure to pass may lead to separation. Sign a mobility agreement to accept assignments nationwide and overseas. Register with the Selective Service System if male and born after December 31, 1959, or be exempt. Meet visual and hearing requirements, including specific visual acuity and hearing loss thresholds. Additional requirements include U.S. citizenship, use of official name on applications, and meeting educational and experience qualifications for various grade levels (GL-07, GL-09, GS-11). The minimum qualifications involve education, specialized experience, or a combination thereof, as detailed in the original description. Applicants must pass Phase I assessments (NCIC, SAEE, APAT, interview) and Phase II evaluations (credit check, security interview, polygraph, drug screening, medical exam, background investigation).
